Cats go to the rainbow from whence it came

When the time comes for a soul to incarnate into a body, a soul-seed is released from that cloud and sent into the body of the newborn cub.

A cat and a Buddhist

Do you believe in the Rainbow Bridge?

I was comforted myself when my beloved darling, my cat Gordeyka, died. That's when I first learned about the Rainbow Bridge. I cried, but somehow it was easier. It's one thing to die, even from a disease, but in old age, it's another to die from a disease in its prime, at 1 year and 4 months. And nothing can be done, although all forces are thrown, all veterinarians are raised and nothing is spared for his recovery, even if they promised 1 chance in 100. It's been years, and I often think of my boy, although I now have two wonderful cats Senya (Senator) and Timosha. But I really want to believe that there really is a Rainbow Bridge, though not exactly the same as written, but something similar. Do you believe in the bridge? And if so, how do you imagine it to be?

I have a female belineenka died at 13 years, a member of the family.About the bridge of the rainbow did not think, just gave happiness to another kitten, a non-breed, but he has everything for a happy life and most importantly, we love him.

It's when the owner loves his pet very much and it (the pet) dies then goes to the Rainbow Bridge as if it's an afterlife for animals and when the owner dies his pet runs across the bridge to him.

My cat and cat, who lived with us for 15 years, passed away one by one recently, too. It was very hard to part, very painful. The cat went away hard, sick, tormented( and the cat was very quiet, in the evening fondled somehow in particular to each of the family members, and early in the morning laid next to my bed and fell asleep forever.

And I know. that my cat – it's the same cat. even though it is the 3rd. when she dies, it comes in another kitten. well, honestly, character, habits, all the same. And I do not choose. do not look, I either bring or some miracles. 15 years ago I found a kitten (blind) in my caucasian's kennel. he didn't eat it, that's one, and how did the blind kitten get there? that's two

At the very edge of the sky is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies, especially if it has been much loved by someone in this life, it goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are vast meadows and hills where our friends can all run and play together. There is an abundance of food, water, and sunlight, and our pets are warm and comfortable there.

Reincarnation Theory

There is an opinion that cats have nine lives. This means that the furry creature will incarnate in a new body until it has lived all of its 9 lives. Then the soul of the cat gets the opportunity to reincarnate in a human body. Of course, this theory cannot be verified in practice, so we have to take our word for it.

Proponents of the theory of reincarnation of souls believe that the human soul can move after death into the body of an animal to be closer to its loved ones left on earth.

Hindus, in particular, believe this. That is why, according to Vedic teachings, animal meat should not be eaten. It is on the theory of reincarnation that true vegetarianism is based, not on the principles of healthy eating.

The Orthodox view

What does the Orthodox Church think about this? The Christian Church does not recognize reincarnation of souls and does not believe in reincarnation. But it does not deny that a cat has a soul. However, according to the church fathers, one should not feel too strongly about the death of the cat and put it in the same line with humans.

Holy Scripture says that there will be "a new earth and a new heaven," and in that new world the lamb will graze next to the wolf. That is, animals will not go anywhere – their place is in paradise with man.

The Catholic Church has St. Gertrude, who is the intercessor and patroness of cats. The Orthodox Church approves of prayers to the Lord and saints for their pets if they need extra protection.

A side note! The Holy Scriptures say nothing about where the cat's soul goes after death. The gospel is given to people for the correction of sins, and animal souls are sinless.

There is a belief that God singled out the cat of all animals because it saved Noah's Ark from sinking. This brave animal restrained a distraught mouse, which was trying to gnaw a hole in the ship to escape.

Where and why did the phrase "gone over the rainbow" come from?

At the very edge of the sky is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies, especially if it was very loved by someone
in this life, it goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are endless meadows and hills there,
where our friends can all run and play together.
There is an abundance of food, water, and sunshine, and our pets are warm and comfortable there.
In this land, all sick and old animals are transformed into young and full of energy;
those who have been injured and maimed become healthy and strong again.
Time flies unnoticed for them, if only we remember them in our dreams and dreams.
The animals there are happy and content with everything except one thing – each of them has gone before and left
someone very dear to them in this life.
On the Rainbow Bridge, the animals run around and play carefree together, but the day comes
when one of them suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His eyes light up with fire and his body begins to tremble with impatience. Suddenly he leaves his
his fellows and flies over the emerald green grass, and his feet carry him faster and faster.
He has spotted you; and when you and your pet finally meet, you will hug each other tightly,
happy that you are united and will never part again.
He will, stupefied with happiness, lick your face, your hand will again lovingly caress
his head, and you will gaze once more into the faithful eyes of your beloved, so long
who has left your life, but who has never left your heart.
Now you can cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Where did the silly expression "go to the rainbow," "run on the rainbow," come from when talking about dead animals?

Citizens, I am not interested in your attitude toward the expression, but in the history of the origin of the expression.
As far as I understand from the voluminous commentary, it is a legend borrowed from Pindostan.

The Rainbow Bridge is a mythical meeting place in the Afterlife for pets and their owners that is mentioned quite often among pet lovers in the United States, the United Kingdom and elsewhere. The legend is based in part on the mythological notion of a "rainbow bridge" between earth and sky. Although the story is widely known around the world, its author is not known.
Here is the story itself:
"At the very edge of the sky there is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies, especially if it has been much loved by someone in this life, it goes to the Rainbow Bridge. Where did the expression "Run for the Rainbow" come from?

I first encountered this expression when I became a pet volunteer. Volunteering isn't just about fluffy kittens and cute puppies. I encountered things at that moment that I wasn't always prepared for. Now I've learned to hold back my emotions and move on when I can't move. Back then, sometimes I just wanted to lie down and not live in a world with so much cruelty.

At first it was just a phrase we used to say goodbye to someone we couldn't save, but then I was told this parable or legend.

There is a belief that the earth and heaven are connected by a rainbow bridge that takes people to heaven. But animals cannot get there themselves. There is a beautiful place on the bridge. There are green meadows and glades. The animals that left us frolic and rest there. The sick become healthy again, nothing bothers them, they are full and happy. And only one thing they lack, a master.

And so when a man appears on the bridge, his pet goes to him and together they go on to heaven, that they would not be parted again.

The continuation must have been invented by volunteers, but I like the idea that when a volunteer appears on the bridge, he takes those animals who in life had no owners and takes them across the bridge.

Believing in this legend is somehow easier to live with, knowing that somewhere out there on the rainbow, my tails are waiting for me, that we will be together again)

"Legends of Rainbow Bridge" (translated by Irina Petrakova)

At the heart of the legend of the rainbow bridge, on which the dead pets go, is the Bivröst from Scandinavian mythology. It is the name of the crossing between Asgard (the heavenly city of the gods) and other worlds, including the underworld, where the souls of dead people reside. There is no word in the Scandinavian myths that dead animals live on this bridge – it is nothing more than a fiction of poets and writers who were inspired by ancient legends (the very first author who told about the Rainbow Bridge for cats is Paul Charles Dum, who published "The Legend of the Rainbow Bridge" in 1981). But readers loved this touching and beautiful version, so it quickly spread. Many began to genuinely believe that their furry pets went to a beautiful rainbow world when they died.

People's feedback on the afterlife for animals

Animals do not have a human-like mind, are not the image of God, Christ did not die for animals, so their souls die with the body.

Read Ephraim the Syrian "On Paradise. I like what the reverend said – God knows how much we love animals, He made them for us. And if there will also be trees in the afterlife that have no soul at all, then our pets should probably be there, too.

I had a cat named Juliette. She was very graceful, like a ballerina. The kitty was also a great mouse hunter. And my other cat named Joey was a very clumsy hunter. Alas, Juliette was gone one day. But the amazing thing is that after she left, Joey immediately started catching mice. I'm sure it was Juliette's spirit that taught Joey how to hunt well, which means cats stay around even after they die.

My parishioner's daughter's cat died. The girl cried a lot, and a few days later in a dream she saw her beloved cat – healthy and cheerful. The most interesting thing was that the animal gave off a glow. As this girl later told me: "I stopped crying because I realized that my Maryska is in a better world. How should we treat this dream? As a fantasy, or as a sign from God? Don't torture yourself with this question. There are dozens of different theories, but they are all made up by people. Only God knows what will actually happen, and we can only gratefully accept his every decision.

😿Why do they say that the cat "went to the rainbow" or "over the rainbow"?

It's not uncommon to say "gone" about the dead, but after all, it's not just from somewhere, it's going somewhere!

If in Christian tradition there is such a place for man – heaven, then pets must have something of their own.

The expression originally came to us, most likely, from America. After all, the majority of the population there are Catholics and Protestants (at least that was the case before, and even now there are not that many convinced atheists).

Christians believe that animals, strictly speaking, do not have souls, which means that they cannot go to a human paradise. But neither can they simply disappear: that would be too sad.

Having said that, the U.S. has historically had many immigrants who brought their legends and beliefs from all over the world.

Perhaps the source of this expression is not in the U.S., but somewhere else. After all, rainbows are a very visible and unusual celestial phenomenon.

Probably no nation in the world has missed the opportunity to attribute mystical features to it. And, as a rule, these features are of a good kind.

In many myths the rainbow is a bridge between the world of people and the world of gods. No wonder, considering its shape: the comparison begs to be made.

The ancient Greeks considered the rainbow to be the way of Iris, the messenger of the divine inhabitants of Olympus.

Perhaps the most famous rainbow bridge is the Scandinavian Bivrest, which leads from Midgard, the world of mortals, to Asgard, the world of the gods.

According to other legends, a treasure can be found at the end of the rainbow. Anyway, the rainbow for almost everyone meant something good.

By the rainbow – cheerful, bright, beautiful and sublime – you can escape to a place where there is no age, accidents and disease.

Not surprisingly, the pets who have left our world wait for their owners exactly where the seven-color bridge leads them.
