Inspector Quadro Tabs for cats and dogs 2-8kg (i402)

Inspector Quadro Tabs (Inspector Quadro Tabs) – oral tablets for cats and dogs 2-8kg. The drug is an oval-shaped tablets from light beige to beige in color with a deep ridge in the center, weighing 240 mg.

Inspector Quadro Tabs as an active ingredient contains lufenuron, moxidectin and praziquantel. Vshuskazat Inspector Kvadro Tabs in four dosages (modifications): for cats and dogs 0.5-2 kg with a content of lufenuron – 20 mg, moxidectin -0.6 mg and prazikvantel – 10 mg. As auxiliary substances the drug contains: lactose, pregelatinized starch, food additive Beef Flavor, calcium stearate, gelatin, aerosil, dye Brown Chocolate.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Inspector Quadro Tabs belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group of antiparasitic drugs in combination. The combination of lufenuron, moxidectin and praziquantel contained in the drug provides its wide range of antiparasitic action against all stages of fleas (Ctenocephalides felis, Ctenocephalides canis), scabies mites (Otodectes cynotis, Sarcoptes canis, Notoedres cati), demodex (Demodex canis) and exode mites (Dermacentor spp, Rhipicephalus spp, Ixodes spp. ), round and tapeworms parasitizing in the gastrointestinal tract of dogs and cats, including Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati (Toxocara mystax), Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis, Ancylostoma caninum, Echinococcus granulosus, Alveococcus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum, Multiceps multiceps as well as larval phases of Dirofilaria immitis and Dirofilaria repens. Lufenuron (compound of benzoylphenylureas group) belongs to insecticides of chitin synthesis inhibitors class, has pronounced larvicidal properties and contact ovocidal activity, practically has no effect on adult insects. Lufenuron is rapidly absorbed in the stomach (sufficient absorption is achieved when the stomach is full of food) and is slowly absorbed, which ensures high concentration of the compound in the animal's body for a month. Getting into insects with animal's blood, then into their eggs, lufenuron blocks the process of chitin formation (main component of insects' coat), larvae die as a result of disturbance of cuticle formation processes and, thus, the next generation of fleas is prevented. Moxidectin is a semi-synthetic compound of milbemycin group (macrocytic lactones) active against arachnoentomoses, larvae and adults of nematodes, it stimulates gamma-aminobutyric acid production, increases membrane permeability to chlorine ions, which inhibits electrical activity of helminths nerve cells, causing disruption of muscle innervation, paralysis and death of ectoparasites and nematodes. The compound is eliminated from the body mainly unchanged within 6 weeks. Praziquantel is a compound of pyrazinisoquinolines group, active against mature and immature cestodes; its mechanism of action is based on induction of tegumen breakdown and inhibition of fumaratreductase, persistent depolarization of helminth muscle cells, disruption of energy exchange, which causes paralysis and death of cestodes and promotes their elimination from gastrointestinal tract. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching maximum concentration in blood plasma after 1-3 hours, distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal; bound to serum proteins (70-80%), partially metabolized in the liver, re-excreted in the intestine, excreted mainly with the urine (80%) within 48 hours. Inspector Kvadro Tabs is classified as low-hazardous substance (Hazard Class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76); does not have immunotoxic, embryotoxic and teratogenic effect in recommended doses. The drug is toxic to bees, as well as fish and other hydrobionts.

Pharmacological (biological) properties and effects

Inspector Total has a wide range of antiparasitic action, active against fleas parasitizing in dogs and cats (Stenocephalides canis), lice (Linognatus setotus), fleas (Trichodectes canis, Felicola subrostratus), demodex (Demodex canis), sarcoptes (Sarcoptes canis, Otodectes cynotis, Notoedres cati) ticks, ixodes (Ixodes ricinus) ticks, larval and sexually mature phases of intestinal nematodes including Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxacara leonine, Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis and larval forms of Dirofilaria immitis.

Fipronil contained in the drug belongs to the group of phenylpyrazole compounds whose mechanism of action is based on inhibition of chlorine ions passage in GABA-dependent chloride channels of arthropods and disruption of nerve impulses transmission, which leads to death of insects and mites.

Moxidectin is a semi-synthetic compound of milbemycin group. Having stimulating effect on gamma-aminobutyric acid release and binding to postsynaptic receptors, it causes disruption of muscle innervation, paralysis and death of ectoparasites and nematodes.

Inspector Total according to the degree of impact on human body is classified as moderately hazardous substances (3rd class of hazard according to GOST 12.1.007-76). The drug has no local irritating, sensitizing and resorptive-toxic effects in recommended doses.

Indications for use of INSPECTOR TOTAL

The drug is administered to animals by drip ("spot-on") application to dry intact skin. The top part of the dropper is broken off before use. The drug shall be applied to the animal in places inaccessible for licking, directly on the skin between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck by pulling the hair apart.

Depending on the weight of dogs the preparation Inspector Total C is used in different preparations in the doses indicated in the table:

When treating large animals the contents of pipettes are applied on the skin in 3-4 places.

During treatment of dogs over 40 kg the preparation is applied in a dose of 0.1 ml per each kg of animal weight, using combinations of pipettes with different packaging.

Depending on the weight of cats the drug Inspector Total K is used in the doses indicated in the table:

To destroy Ixodid mites, fleas, lice and lice and lice, the treatment of animals is carried out once, to prevent reinfestation – once every 4-6 weeks throughout the season of activity of insects and mites.

For destruction of ixodid mites on the animal's body the drug in quantity of 1 drop shall be applied to the mite and the place of its attachment to the skin. If the tick does not fall off spontaneously within 20 minutes, it is gently pulled out of the skin with tweezers and destroyed.

To treat otodectosis (ear scab) the drug is used once. During treatment it is recommended to clean the ear canal from exudate and scabs, and in case of complications of otitis media, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory drugs. If necessary, the course of treatment shall be repeated after 1 month.

For therapeutic purpose in sarcoptosis in dogs or notoedrosis in cats the drug is used 2 times at 5-7 day interval, for demodechosis in dogs – 2-4 times at interval of 28 days. The course of treatment is repeated if necessary. In order to prevent possible infestation, treatment shall be carried out once a month.

For deworming animals with gastrointestinal nematodeosis drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, with a preventive – once a month.

The drug manufacturer is the Russian company NPF Ekoprom. The drug's developer is Neoterica GmbH (Germany).

Mechanism of action

  • LUFENURON (compound of benzoylphenylureas group) is an insecticide of chitin synthesis inhibitor class. This compound has pronounced larvicidal properties and contact ovocidal activity, but has almost no effect on adult insects. The active ingredient is quickly absorbed in the stomach and slowly excreted. Due to this the maximum concentration of the drug during one month is provided. Getting not only into insects but also into their eggs, lufenuron blocks the process of chitin formation (the main component of insects' coat). Death of larvae occurs as a result of disturbance of cuticle formation processes
  • MOXIDECTIN (compound of milbemycin group). This component is active against causative agents of arachnoentomoses, larvae and adults of nematodes. The principle of action is based on stimulation of gamma-aminobutyric acid release to increase membrane permeability to chlorine ions. This in turn reduces the activity of the nerve cells of helminths, further leading to muscle innervation, then to paralysis, then to the death of nematodes. Moxidectin is eliminated from the restriction within 6 weeks.
  • PRASIKVANTEL (a compound of the pyrazinisoquinoline group). This component complements the action of lufenuron, because its action is aimed at adult mature ectoparasites and nematodes. The principle of action is based on induction of tegumen disintegration and inhibition of fumaratreductase, persistent depolarization of muscle cells of helminth. Disturbances of energy metabolism in nervous system lead to paralysis, and subsequently to death of cestodes. This active ingredient is absorbed into the blood through the gastrointestinal tract 1-3 hours after taking the tablet. Further it is evenly distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal, binds with serum proteins of blood (70-80%), partially metabolized in the liver, reexcreted in the intestine. Almost completely (up to 80%) is eliminated from the animal's body with urine within 2 days.

Conclusion

"Inspector" – an effective drug, the safest for pets of all analogues that exist on the market today. The components in its composition are also used in agriculture, as a means of controlling insecticides and pesticides.

After all, pets walking freely in the street can bring into the house not only parasite larvae, but also become a source of infecting people with serious bacterial diseases. Therefore, regular treatment of pets is necessary, as well as compliance with the rules of personal hygiene.
