How to give Gamavit

  • Intravenously. This procedure can only be performed by a veterinarian. It requires special skills. Do not try to inject yourself – do not put your cat's life in danger.
  • Intramuscular. You can do it yourself by injecting into the thigh. It is better to have someone helping to hold the cat.
  • Subcutaneously. A weakened cat is pulled back the skin on the withers and slowly inject the needle of the syringe with the remedy at an acute angle to the spine. It is not necessary to wet the injection site with a sterile solution. Insulin syringe is the best for injecting the drug.

If for some reason you can not use injections of Gamavit, you need to use the drug orally. In this case, the dose of the drug is doubled. Over time, the drug loses its properties, so the pet must drink it diluted with water within two hours. If the cat refuses to drink the prepared solution on its own, it is recommended to force-feed the drug with a syringe.

Gamavit is administered intramuscularly once in dose 0.3ml/kg of animal body weight on the day of deworming and again in the same dose one day later, i.e. on the second day after application of anthelminthic. Subcutaneous administration as well as drinking water in double dosage in animals with low body weight is allowed.

Recommended dose of Gamavit 0.5 ml/kg body weight of the animal 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days. Any method of injection is allowed: intravenously, intramuscularly or subcutaneously.

Cures anemia. Restores blood count, reduces intoxication.

Gamavit is administered intravenously at a dose of 0.2 ml/kg of body weight of the animal once a day for a course of 5-10 days. Course duration shall be determined by a veterinarian based on the general condition of the animal and blood counts.

Reduces the duration of treatment.
Recommended dose is 0.5 ml/kg of animal body weight 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days.

It is allowed both injection (intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous) and oral administration in doubled dose for animals with low weight.

Despite owners' desire to improve their pet's health, veterinarian advice should not be ignored. Any detailed instructions will not give out as much useful information and action as a specialist will offer. Gamavit for cats, or similar drugs should be prescribed by a veterinarian with the exact dose, course and method of administration.

Pharmacological (biological) properties and effects

Combined immunomodulatory drug. Components included in the preparation stimulate natural resistance, increase bactericidal activity of blood serum, resistance of animals to stress and excessive loads, have immunomodulatory effect, increase safety and weight gain of young animals.

Gamavit refers to low-hazardous substances according to the degree of effect on the body (Hazard Class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007). In recommended doses and concentrations it has no local irritant, allergenic, embryotoxic, teratogenic and carcinogenic effect.

Indications for use of GAMAVIT

The drug may be administered by different methods: p/k, i/v, i/m and by watering-down with drinking water.

In case of anemia, intoxication, acidosis, during postvaccination period, for old and weakened animals, in recovery period after diseases and operations Gamavit is administered v/m in dose of 0.1 ml/kg of body weight 1-3 times a week during 2-4 weeks.

To increase fattening weights of young animals the drug is administered p/k in a dose of 0.1 ml/kg of body weight once/day at the beginning of the fattening period – days 1, 4 and 9.

To improve safety of newborn calves and piglets the drug is administered in a dose of 0.1 ml/kg of body weight once/day on days 1, 3, 5, 7 and 21 of life.

To increase animal resistance to technological stresses (preparation of animals for exhibitions, competitions, transportation, on-farm movements) and for vaccination, the preparation is administered once a month before stress exposure or as a course 8, 6, 4 days before and immediately before exposure to stress factors.

Gamavit is administered to laying hens to increase egg production and egg weight, preservation of day-old chicks as well as to increase broiler chick weight gain by drinking. In this case, 5 ml of the drug is diluted in 1 liter of water (working solution) and fills bird drinker with it at the rate of 2-hour birds' need for water. Watering is carried out for 2 hours once a day for 4-5 consecutive days. Birds are kept without water for 1 hour before the drug administration.

In infectious and invasive diseases (including pyroplasmosis) in a dose of 0.5 ml/kg body weight of the animal. The drug is administered v/m 2-3 times / day for 3-5 days as part of a complex of therapeutic agents in accordance with the instructions for their use.

When dehelminthization together with antihelminthic drugs in accordance with instructions for their administration Gamavit is administered in v/m once in a dose of 0.3 ml/kg of animal body weight on the day of dehelminthization and repeatedly in the same dose every other day.

Pharmacological (biological) properties and effects

Antiviral drug with immunomodulatory properties.

Dinatriye salt of polyprenol phosphate, which is part of the drug, activates natural resistance systems (bactericidal activity of blood serum and phagocytosis), enhances humoral immune response to vaccines, thus increasing resistance of body to infections, reduces morbidity. Dinatrium salt of polyprenol phosphate activates metabolic processes in cells and, accordingly, increases the weight gain at reduced feed consumption.

Fosprenil has antiviral activity against Paramyxoviridae, Orthomyxoviridae, Togaviridae, Herpesviridae, Coronaviridae and some other viruses.

After parenteral administration, the diatrium salt of polyprenol phosphate enters into animal bloodstream, accumulates mainly in the tissues of liver, spleen and reproductive organs, reaching maximum concentration in 0.5-3 hours and remaining at therapeutic level for 10-16 hours. It is excreted mainly with feces and urine.

By degree of action on organism Fospril belongs to low-hazardous substances (4 class of hazard according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it does not have local irritating, allergizing, embryotoxic, teratogenic and carcinogenic action.

Indications for administration of FOSPRENIL

  • For stimulation of nonspecific resistance in farm and domestic animals, furbearing animals and poultry;
  • for prevention and treatment of viral infections, strengthening of immune response to vaccine administration, reduction of morbidity and increase in weight gain in animals and poultry.

Fosprenil is administered v/m, p/k, v/v (in horses and productive animals) or orally.

Fosprenil treatment should be started as early as possible from the onset of clinical signs of disease. Therapy is most effective in prodromal period.

In viral infections it is necessary to combine Fosprenil with means of symptomatic and pathogenetic therapy, especially in severe and complicated forms of infections. With severe course of the disease the therapeutic dose of Fosprenil is recommended to be doubled. Treatment shall be discontinued after 2-3 days after disappearance of main disease symptoms. If necessary, repeated courses of treatment may be prescribed.

In treatment of viral infections of small domestic animals Fosprenil is administered for 5-7 days in doses (ml/kg) shown in Table 1.

If the daily dose is large, Fosprenil should be administered either in 2-3 doses or in 3-4 injections during the day.

In plague of flesh-eating dogs, the drug should be administered for at least 14 days, even when clinical signs of the disease disappear, in order to avoid relapses. Duration of course, if necessary, may be extended up to 1 month.

With the purpose of non-specific disease prevention and reduction of mortality, Fosprenil is administered at a dose of 0.05 ml/kg body weight according to the scheme shown in Table 2.
